Mumbai, April 25: Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist conceded that his team’s poor display against Royal Challengers Bangalore here today was pathetic and ascribed it to the Hyderabad outfit’s inability to overcome mental and physical fatigue.
“Yes, it’s very disappointing. It was pathetic, I agree.
We came to this position with seven games to go. We were unable to lift ourselves up from losing in the semi-finals. It was fatigue ? mentally we were tired and physically too. We were not able to switch on,: said Gilchrist after the nine-wicket loss against RCB in the third-fourth place play off match of IPL.
Gilchrist said the day totally belonged to their Bangalore rivals whom they had beaten in the summit clash of 2009 IPL in South Africa.
“We were outplayed. We should have batted out our overs.
Unfortunately we reserved our worst for the last match,” he said.
