Seoul, December 03: A blast at a South Korean weapons research institute has killed at least one person and injured five others during an experiment.
The incident took place 45 kilometers (28 miles) northwest of Seoul on Thursday.
Kim Young-san, a spokesman for the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, which oversees the research institute, confirmed the casualties.
Officials say researchers were testing an experimental explosive when the accident happened, the Associated Press reported.
Local media reports earlier said three people had been killed and at least 60 injured.
