New Delhi, October 06: The Centre today contended before the Delhi High Court that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Ibrahim Parker cannot be issued passport as she might misuse it for abetting “criminal” activities of her brother.
The government’s response came on a petition filed by Haseena seeking a direction to it to issue her a passport.
Justifying its action to deny her passport, the Centre submitted that she tried to hide her identity by furnishing wrong surname in her application.
“She may travel abroad and misuse her passport for aiding and abetting criminal activities of her brother and his associates and therefore keeping in mind the security of India and public interest at large, the passport has not been issued,” the government said in its affidavit filed by advocate Sanjeev Kumar Dubey.
