New Delhi: Two daughters of Amina Begum the Pakistani woman of Indian origin who is facing deportation reportedly went missing since Thursday said the sources.
Anima Begum has been staying at her maternal home in north-east Delhi without a valid Indian passport and is now facing deportation along with her two daughters and two sons.
The daughters had earlier assured to appear before the investigating officer to find a way out of deportation.
“We don’t know where they have gone,” said Sajid, the husband of Uzma, Amina Begum’s elder daughter. Uzma and Asma both sisters are three children each with their Indian Husbands.
“They left home with the children to meet their mother in the Mandoli jail but haven’t returned,” said the worried husband who is an Indian citizen.
“If my wife and her family members are arrested and sent to Pakistan, who will look after my children?” asked the husband, TOI reports.
He continued, “I didn’t know my wife was from Pakistan until my mother-in-law disclosed the fact. Now that she is married to me, her nationality should change, and I pray to the government to consider this.”
While some relatives of the women claimed the two sisters might have gone into hiding to evade the arrest.
“If they have left, it is for their own good. We will not enquire about them,” said Akhlaq Ali, Anima Begum’s brother.
Only a few days ago the eldest daughter Uzma had expressed anxiety about her mother’s health.
“Even though she is allowed to move freely in jail, there’s no one to give her the prescribed medicines. If we are to travel to Pakistan, she should be fit,” she had said.
However, the cops said the sisters formal arrest is necessary for their production before a magistrate, who shall then decide on the deportation in consultation with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan High Commission has been informed about the deportation of Begum, her two daughters and two sons.
