Union minister for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya today asked Congress party at least now to cooperate with the BJP government at the centre to run smoothly the constitutional institutions.
Participating in a “Anti-Emergency Day programme”, he alleged that the Congress has been creating problems in running of parliament and later talking on democratic value, which is ridiculous.
Recalling the emergency as black days in the history of Indian politics, Dattatreya said June 26, 1975 (emergency ) was a black day as the entire country was made as jail after arresting lakhs of people who were sent to jails across the country by Indira Gandhi government. Democracy was murdered and judiciary, press and parliament voices were trifled just for sake of one individual that is Indira Gandhi, he alleged.
National leaders like Morarji Desai, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and George Fernandez were arrested, and an agitation was undertaken by Lok Sangarsh samithi led by Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, he recalled and said he himself was arrested in Bellampalli and sent to Chanchalguda jail.
But, people had tought a fitting lesson during elections by defeating Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi of Congress party. Now the same party and Sonia Gandhi and son Rahul Gandhi are indulging in such tactics and running the party in am undemocratic way, the union minister said.
He said BJP, its workers, human right commission, those who believe in democracy are committed for people’s welfare, development, transparency and accountability.(NSS)
