New Delhi, JAnuary 19: Great cinematographer V K Murthy has been selected for the 2008 Dada Saheb Phalke Award, the highest national award for contribution to the art of films, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said here today.
Part of the legendary film director and actor Guru Dutt’s team, Murthy is credited with providing one of the most memorable black and white images of Indian cinema.
He had already been honoured with the IIFA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
Murthy also shot India’s first cinemascope movie, Kaagaz Ke Phool.
