In a major incident, a reactor exploded in a chemical factory in Nacharam Industrial Estate here on Friday morning.
Dark smoke billowed out of the Shalislight chemical factory on Road No. 18 and fire soon engulfed the whole area up to one kilometer forcing the workers and those in the vicinity ran helter skelter. Deafening sounds of explosions and rapidly spreading fires sent shockwaves in the area. Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and are fighting the fire and are trying to ensure that the fires do not spread to the neighboring areas. However, there was no information about the fatalities in the mishap.
On receipt of the information, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Uppal MLA NVSS Prabhakar rushed to the spot and assisted in the relief measures. (NSS)
