Auckland, January 06: Ace Indian tennis star Sania Mirza lost in straight sets 0-6,3-6 to 4th seed and world no .17 Francesca Schaivone of Italy in the second round of the ASB Classic Auckland Open tennis championship.
The veteran Italian dominate the match throughout breaking Sania’s serve thrice to race away with the opening set 6-0.
Sania did put up some resistance in the second set but the diminutive Italian was too much to handle for the Indian as Schaivone wrap up the match in 70 minutes.
Sania Mirza also lost his opening round match in the doubles event as she and her partner Virginia Pascual of Spain, who were seeded second lost in straight sets 1-6,6-7(6) to wild carders Yanina Wickmayer of Switzerland and Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.
