The indefinite curfew which was clamped in Madannapet and Saidabad Police Station areas following communal riots on Sunday last, was relaxed again for eight hours from 0900 hours this morning to enable the people to purchase essential commodities and attend their daily works.
However, tight security arrangments were made in the Old city in view of Friday prayers by Muslims today. Police sources said the situation during the curfew relaxation period was, by and large, peaceful and the section 144 clamped in 15 police station limits, was temporarly lifted to enable Muslims to offers Friday prayers today.
The curfew would be reimposed again from 1700 hours this evening and If the situation continued to be incident-free, the curfew is likely to be lifted completely in the next couple of days.
