Crucial meeting of Wakf Board today

Hyderabad: Telangana State Wakf Board will meet today under the chairmanship of its President, Mr. Mohammed Saleem. It is likely that many controversial issues would be discussed in the meeting. At the first phase of the agenda, 45 items have been finalized. It is expected that 20-25 more issues could be included on the agenda.

It may be recalled that in the last meeting of the Wakf Board, certain resolutions were passed but CEO has requested the members of the board to review those resolutions. It is reported that the supporters of MIM might raise these issues. In the last meeting, no final decision was taken for the allotment of certain Wakf properties. The same items have been included now.

It may be mentioned that in the last meeting, some members had proposed for the appointment of a permanent Mutawalli for the Sardar Awlia Dargah located at Hafeezpet but the chairman had postponed this issue for the next meeting. The land under this Dargah has been made into plots and sold out. The board members belonging to MIM are insisting for the appointment of Mutawalli belonging their party.

The issue of construction of compound wall of Muslim Graveyard of Bhainsa might also come up for discussion wherein MIM members have been insisting to issue NOC to municipality whereas this land does not belong to it. Although this issue is not included on the agenda but it might crop up with the support MIM members. Wakf Board has sought status report from the concerned Inspector Auditor. Till such report is received, Wakf Board cannot take any decision. Govt. will make an attempt that the members nominated by ruling party do not become party to any controversial issue. These nominated members might evolve a strategy before the board meets.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mohammed Saleem, Chairman of Wakf Board told that Govt. had issued orders for leasing out the open land and the complex adjacent to Haj House which is under construction. He informed that leasing would be done after inviting global tenders. Although, Govt. permitted for giving 11 Wakf properties on lease basis, only two such properties could be leased out and at the first stage since there is no controversy relating to these properties.

Mr. Saleem also contradicted the rumours that these properties are being given on lease to the relatives. He said that Secretary of Minorities Welfare Dept. Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel has already permitted to invite global tenders which would be followed.
