Visakhapatnam, August 18: CPI(M) District Committee Secretary Ch Narasinga Rao has demanded that the government order, allowing the Anrak Aluminium Company Limited (AAL) to construct Nakkapalli port at Rajayyapata be withdrawn immediately.
Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, he alleged that once again the government’s plan to export Bauxite was revealed by the government order of the Nakkapalli port.
He demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered into the issue of the proposed mining in the district.
Demanding that permission to Makavarapalem Bauxite Refinery and Nakkapalli port be withdrawn as they were related to mining, the CPI(M) leader alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) had given 1,658 acres of cultivable land to AAL without giving even one paisa to the displaced people.
Mr Rao said, ”Denying drinking water to the people, the government is ready to supply the Anrak Company with 10 MGD of water through the Yluru canal.” The state government also served notices to the residents of Nakkapalli, Rajayyapata and Chandanada villages to acquire 111 acres of land and this would leave 3,000 fishermen high and dry, he alleged.
The government has stalled the construction of port at more suitable Mutyalampalem to favour Gangavaram Port Private Limited, he added.
The transport of Bauxite from Makavarapalem and export of aluminium were against the national interests, he said, adding that transporting Bauxite from Jarrala and Makavaram would lead to polluting the district, crops and trees.
Mr Rao said, ”Drinking water in the canals will be contaminated.” He also gave an ultimatum to intensify its agitation if their demands were not met.
