CPI(M) demands rescheduling of first, fifth phase polls

Ranchi, October 25: The CPI(M) today asked the Election Commission to reschedule the first and fifth phases of the assembly polls in Jharkhand.

“Due to Bakr-Id on November 28 and Friday prayers on the election day on November 27 and December 18, most of the voters from Muslim community could not be take part in the elections.

“So we demand immediate rescheduling of November 27 (first phase) and December 18 (fifth) phase of polling,” the CPI(M) petition to the EC said.

The petition said November 27 being Friday, would be an important day for the community, and that Id-ul-Zoha falls on the next day (November 28).

Jharkhand is going for a five-phased assembly elections from November 27.
