CPI(M) asks Govt to take action against bribe-taking officials

New Delhi, October 13: CPI(M) today asked the government to investigate and take firm action against officials who allegedly took bribes from US firms for showing them special favours.

Expressing concern over the reports, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau demanded that all US firms involved in giving bribes should be blacklisted and the persons who received the bribes should be identified and be given stringent punishment.

“CPI(M) demands that the government investigate and take firm action against all officials for taking kickbacks from foreign companies for showing special favours to them against national interests,” it said in a statement.

The remarks comes in the backdrop of a letter written by Indian ambassador to US Meera Shankar to Principal Secretary to Prime Minister T K A Nair naming some Indian companies which allegedly received illegal payments from US companies.
