New Delhi, July 04: The CPI today began a review of its debacle in the general elections and an exercise to chalk out action plan to oppose any ‘anti-people’ measures in the upcoming general budget.
The three-day meeting of the party’s National Council started with General Secretary A B Bardhan tabling the report of the National Executive on the poll performance of the party, whose strength in the Lok Sabha declined from ten to four.
Discussions began on reports from the states where the party had put up candidates, including Left bastions of West Bengal and Kerala, party sources said.
The decision-making body of the CPI would also firm up its strategy to take the government to task on steps to mobilise resources to fund various flagship programmes in the wake of reports about resource mobilisation through divestment of stake in some profit-making public sector units.
