Congress MLAs protest over Rajoli Banda scheme

Hyderabad: Congress MLAs staged protest in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Tuesday over the issue of Rajolibanda Diversion scheme of Mahabubnagar district.

Congress MLA Dr. G. Chinna Reddy had raised a query during Question Hour asking whether the Rajoli Banda Diversion scheme is providing water for irrigating contemplated ayacut of 87,500 acres in Mahabubnagar district. Although the issue was among 10 listed questions for oral answers during Question Hour, it was postponed, along with three other questions by Speaker S. Madhusudan Reddy due to shortage of time.

Upset over this, Congress MLAs DK Aruna and Padamavathi Reddy walked up to the Speaker’s podium demanding that the issue be taken up for discussion. Other MLAs including T. Jeevan Reddy, A. Sampath Kumar, T. Rammohan Reddy, Chinna Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy raised slogans to press for their demand.

Amid protest by the Congress legislators, ministers presented Budget Demands for various departments and the Speaker then adjourned the House for 10 minutes for tea break. (INN)
