Congress is ‘intolerant’ to Orissa: BJD govt

Bhubaneswar, Decembner 02: Launching a scathing attack on the Centre, Orissa government has alleged that the Congress has always been “intolerant” towards the state.

While replying to a debate last night in the Assembly, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister S N Patro claimed that the Congress leadership had never tolerated leaders like former Chief Minister Harekrushna Mahatab, Biju Patnaik, Nandini Satpathy and J B Patnaik.

“As these leaders were working for development of the state, the Congress leadership cornered them time and again”, the minister said while claiming that the attitude of the Congress has not changed since then.

The motion brought by the BJD, however, raised heated exchange of words between members of the opposition and treasury benches leading to a walkout by Congress MLAs.

While the Centre sanctions additional funds to other states during calamities, it was “unkind” to Orissa, Patro said.
