Chandigarh, July 09: The main Opposition party Congress today accused the Punjab government of “running away” from holding a longer discussion on the budget for 2009-10.
Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal charged the SAD-BJP government with “running away from holding a longer discussion on the budget for 2009-10 by fixing two days for the debate”.
Demanding a longer budget session, Bhattal said “Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had talked of mobilising Rs 2,000 crore during this financial year, but gave no details that from where this money will come or whether he will levy new taxes later”.
She also claimed that the total deficit in the budget would add up to Rs 9,000 Crore and not Rs 4,233.92 crore as mentioned by Manpreet alleging that the budget is nothing but day dreaming as it does not have any concrete proposals on fiscal management.
