Hyderabad: Opposition Leader of Congress in Telangana Legislative Council, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir organize a power point presentation on reservations at Nizambad National High School yesterday. He highlighted the benefits of 4% reservations provided by previous Congress Govt. led by Mr. Rajsekhara Reddy.
District President of Congress, Nizamabad, Mr. Taher bin Hamadan organized the function in order to create awareness for reservation campaign for Muslims. Present on this occasion were Ms. A. Lalitha, MLC, former Congress MP, Mr. Madhu Goud Yashki.
Highlighting the efforts of Congress for providing reservations to Muslims, Mr. Shabbir told that right from 1989 he started struggling for reservations. In 1992, GO 32 was issued and 25th August 1994, Patta Swami Commission was constituted. In 1994, Congress lost power. During the 9 year tenure of TDP, the tenure of Patta Swami Commission was extended 9 times but nothing was done. In 2004, within 56 days of assuming power, Congress provided 5% reservation to Muslims but the Attorney General, Mr. Rama Krishna Reddy approached the court and got the GO cancelled. Congress constituted BCs Commission again and provided 4% reservation. The present Attorney General is making an attempt to nullify these reservations.
Mr. Shabbir that 14 BC-E categories are being benefited in the field of education. Thousands of students got seats in Medicine and Engineering. Mr. Shabbir also presented through the projector the opposition of Majlis.
Mr. Shabbir pointed out that Mr. KCR had promised to provide 12% reservation to Muslims, judicial powers to Wakf Board and protection of wakf properties within 4 months of assuming power but nothing has been done in this regard. Sudheer Commission of Enquiry has no power to suggest reservation. For this purpose, the constitution of BCs Commission is essential.
He applauded the efforts of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan and Mr. Amer Ali Khan for launching the campaign for 12% reservation for Muslims.
