Shimla, April 13: Opposition Congress today walked out from Himachal Pradesh Assembly to protest lathicharge on its workers during a rally in which over ten persons were injured.
As the House met for the day, Leader of the Opposition Vidya Stokes demanded taking up of the notice for adjournment given by Congress against the lathicharge here on April 9.
Stokes resented Speaker Tulsi Ram’s ruling that the matter be discussed through a calling attention motion and not adjournment motion.
Even before the chair gave his ruling, Congress MLAs, who were on their feet right from the beginning walked out of the House raising anti-government slogans.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal condemned the opposition act saying it showed they are not interested in raising issues related to common man.
