Committing suicide due to pressure is cowardly: Amitabh Bachchan

New Delhi, January 20: Committing suicide or resorting to any extreme act due to pressure from parents or society is a cowardly act, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has said.

”I feel that a person who commits suicide due to pressure from society or parents is a coward,” Mr Bachchan said at a press conference to promote his latest film ‘Rann’ here last evening.

Asked about his opinion on the suicide by students apparently after being influenced by the recent film ‘3 Idiots’, the actor advised the younger generation to take the ”ups and downs” of life in their stride.

Speaking on the issue, Mr Bachchan, who was accompanied by Director of the film Ram Gopal Verma, co-actors Riteish Deshmukh and Gul Panag and producers Madhu Montena and Sheetal Talwar, said,”One should not be daunted by the ups and downs of life. Instead, one needs to deal with the various challenges confronting one with all the strength.”

The superstar said he would address the issue in his blog in the coming days.
