Hyderabad, March 20: YSR Congress party leaders on Saturday alleged that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and other Congress leaders were trying to defame their party chief Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy by making false allegations against him with regard to the Legislative Council elections.
Duppala Ravindrababu and G.Narsunaidu said Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy had tried to get Mohammad Johny defeated to corner the YSR Congress party but Jagan loyalists had voted in favour of the minority leader.
“Mr.Kiran tried to show Jagan in a poor light, particularly among the minorities, during the Kadapa and Pulivendula by-elections,” they said. Mr.Ravindrababu, who had joined the YSR Congress party from the Bharatiya Janata Party recently, met Jagan in Hyderabad on Thursday and discussed the party’s prospects in the district.
“All the leaders of the YSR Congress have been asked to highlight the ‘anti-people policies’ of the government. We will also oppose construction of the Kovvada nuclear plant, apart from the thermal projects at Sompeta and Kakarapalli,” Mr.Ravindra said. Minority leaders of the party Mohammad Sirajuddin, Shaik Asif, and Firoj Mohammad said Muslims would continue to support Jagan as his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy had been instrumental in providing reservation to minorities in the State.
