Hyderabad, December 22: The Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy today asked the officials of various departments concerned to work in complete coordination and in tandem to complete the works targetted in the II phase of 100 days of development plan for the GHMC area. He wanted the officials to complete the works within the time schedule with clear milestones and said funds will not be a problem for the works including the traffic improvements to international standards.
In the II Phase of the 100 days of development of the GHMC area, all departments put together will take up and complete works worth Rs.1138 crores. Minister for Municipal Administration, M Maheedhar Reddy, Minister for Marketing, Mukesh Goud, Principal Secretary, MA&UD, Sam Bob, Principal Secretary, MA&UD, K Vijaya Kumar, Commissioner, HMDA, Rajesh Tiwari, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad and Cyberabad, A K Khan and Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Commissioner, GHMC, M T Krishna Babu, VC&MD, APSRTC, Prasada Rao, CMD, AP Transco, Ajay Jain, Collectors of Hyderabad and R R District, Natarajan Gulzar & Seshadri, Addl. Commissioner, GHMC, Navin Mittal, Secretary, Finance, Premachandra Reddy, Secretary to CM, K S Jawahar Reddy and other officials attended the meeting. The Chief Minister asked the officials to go for CC roads for better durability with proper planning. He also wanted the Junction improvement to be taken up. He wanted these works to be done systematically, democratically and in consultations with people’s representatives. He said Rs.25 crs has already been allotted to the Traffic Police for improvements and asked the officials to work out the possibility of integrating the traffic junction improvements with CC cameras in consultations with experts in the field. The Chief Minister also asked the Water Works department to work out contingency plans now itself for drinking water supply in the GHMC areas without complaints till the onset of next monsoon. He also reviewed the progress of Krishna, Godavari water for GHMC areas with officials of HMWS&SB, MA&UD and Finance departments.
He wanted the project to be completed at the earliest. In the 1st Round of 100 Days Programme launched by the Chief Minister, the GHMC has taken up and completed works with an estimated cost of Rs.143.32 crores. These include CC Roads/BT Roads/Side Walks 1072 works worth Rs.134.09 crores; Street Light Pole Painting Physical 28965 works; Junction Improvement 10,949 works worth Rs.2.51 crores; Health & Sanitation 8997 works worth Rs.4.06 crores and Construction of Bus Shelters 62 works worth Rs.2.48 crores. In the 2nd Round of 100 Days Programme, the GHMC has identified certain priority works which includes BT Roads, CC Roads, Storm Water Drains, Junction Improvements, Parks, Electrical Works, Improvement of burial grounds and works related to Health & Sanitation etc.
The GHMC has taken up BT renewal coating covering 145 Kms at a cost of Rs.58 Crores to improve all the important bus plying routes in view of the severe damage occurred during the monsoon; Special Focus is given for improvement of 53 burial grounds with an estimated cost of Rs.5.74 crores; 318 Tree Parks and Colony Parks are proposed with an estimated cost of Rs.15.6 crores for improving green cover and also to provide recreation facilities to the people and Junction Improvements at 34 locations were taken up with an estimated cost of Rs.5.12 crores with proper road markings, reflective studs & cat eyes, road signages and caution boards. Modern Abattoir at Amberpet with an estimated cost of Rs.15.92 Crores was taken up and will be completed during this 100 days programme which will help to provide hygienic meat for public consumption. Works relating to the rendering plant taken up at Chengicherla with an estimated cost of Rs.13.72 Crores along with three more modern abattoirs located at Bhoiguda, Ramnaspura & Gowlipura will be expedited to make them available by June, 2012. Six electric crematoriums were taken up at Punjagutta, Erragadda, Amberpet, Bansilalpet at an estimated cost of Rs.6.71 Crores and will be completed during the 100 days programme, which is a long felt need for the citizens of Hyderabad. As a part of the comprehensive sanitation improvement, leachate treatment plant taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.6.00 crores at Jawaharnagar dumping yard will be completed during this period.
Land Fill and Compost Plant will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs.25.00 crores which will vastly improve environment at Jawaharnagar Dumping Yard. RDF Power Plant of 11 MW capacity at Bibinagar to convert garbage to power taken up with an estimated cost of Rs.114 crores with 26% equity participation of GHMC will be completed, providing safe disposal of around 700MT of garbage per day. On the whole the works to a tune of Rs.358.73 crores will be completed by the end of 2nd Round of 100 days programme by GHMC for providing better civic infrastructure to the citizens of twin cities.
In the Department-wise abstract report of 100 days action plan – (2nd Phase) GHMC will take up works worth Rs.358.73 crores; HMDA Rs.77.44 crores; Roads & Buildings (State Roads) Rs.33.22 crores; HMWS & SB Rs.103.66 crores; APCPDCL Rs.181.63 crores and AP Transco Rs.383.88 crores & total:1138.56 crs. At present development of road works are dealt with in a piece meal manner without long term evaluation and design of the roads on a scientific manner meeting to the standards of IRC & MORTH Specifications. There was a long felt need for development of stretches of road on a corridor based approach as is being done for Major Roads in other Metro Cities. The Objectives Action Plan are: Development and Improvement of carriage way with reference to evaluating the present and future traffic requirements and designing the level of adequacy as per IRC & MORTH Specifications; Designing, Up-gradation/ Strengthening of the pavement for design life period of 15 to 20 years; Providing of paved shoulders and footpaths for the safety and use of pedestrians; Drainage and Protection Works, paver blocks in footpaths, Cross pipes & utilities etc; Provision of side drains for disposal of storm water drain; Provision of ducts for carrying utilities for present and future expansion works of cables etc; Development and Improvement of Junctions; Provision of road safety Infrastructure & Signage Boards; Provision of Road Markings & Signages; Street Lighting and Landscaping. Works proposed under city level infrastructure improvement project (Greater Hyderabad Development Project) are: Flyovers/ROBs/RUBs Rs.294.00 crores; Link Roads Rs.94.00 crores; Widening of Roads Rs.225.00 crores; Junction Improvements Rs.50.00 crores; Council Hall Rs.50.00 crores; Musi River front Development Rs.50.00 crores; Development of City Level Parks 20.00 crores and Footpath on Major Corridors Rs.30.00 crores totalling Rs.813 crores.
