Hyderabad, November 23: Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who’s set to leave for Delhi on Tuesday, is expected to give a graphic account of the “anti- Sonia” programme aired on Sakshi TV and the purpose behind the same to the Congress high command.
Exasperated with Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s supporters for the manner in which they have been disrupting his programmes of late, Rosaiah is likely to complain to the party’s national leadership that by doing so, the late YSR’s son is hoping to emerge as a leader in the State and seek action against him.
PCC president D Srinivas has already sent a report to party chief Sonia Gandhi detailing the reasons that could have prompted Jagan to let the programme go on air. Union Law Minister and party’s State affairs incharge Veerappa Moily on Monday acknowledged Srinivas’ report.
“We have received the report from the PCC. The high command has taken a serious view of the issue. Though we have not invited Rosaiah to Delhi, he is coming on his own probably to apprise the party leadership of what is happening in the State,” Moily told reporters in Delhi.
It is not yet clear whether Rosaiah has secured an appointment with Sonia but efforts are on to get one so that he could explain to her in person the challenge posed by Jagan. This apart, he may give a bird’s eyeview of the situation in the State and plead for a little more freedom for effectively governing the State and choosing his own team.
This assumes significance since he will have to ride two horses – Samaikya Andhra and Telangana sentiments – after December 31 when Justice BN Srikrishna Committee’s report on the Telangana issue is due.
The recommendations of the panel, whatever they be, in favour of or against a Telangana state, could spell more trouble for the government.
Jagan camp, on the other hand, is reportedly analysing the impact of its TV show on party workers at the grass-roots level. According to sources, the feedback is rather disturbing – the programme did not go down well with the party cadres as they are Congressmen first and Jagan supporters later. “Jagan Mohan Reddy should not have done this. The programme has tarnished his image but as time goes by, people might forget it,” one Jagan camper said.
Giving a new twist to the unfolding drama, Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi’s proposed visit to Delhi on Tuesday fuelled speculation that he may use his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the Polavaram project to indicate his readiness to support the Congress, just in case Jagan upsets the party’s applecart in State.
