Hyderabad, October 30: The 13th annual national conference of Geriatric Society of India will be held at the Alumni Educational Centre, Gandhi Medical College, on October 31 and November 1. The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, will inaugurate it on October 31, at 6 pm.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, the Society joint secretary, Dr Ramakrishna, said that ‘geriatric’ is a specialized medical section meant for treatment of diseases in old age. He said that the older people were more prone to diseases like Alzheimer’s and Osteoporosis. He said that the Society has been organizing conferences and workshops to sensitize and train doctors and nurses in the field of geriatrics.
The international and national senior doctors will attend the 13th annual national conference of the society, to be held in Hyderabad, he added. The conference consists of orations, guest lectures, symposium on Osteoporosis and free paper presentation. (NSS)
