Hyderabad, June 18: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy is going to Delhi tomorrow to meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with a highly ambitious agenda. He had prepared a 30-page development plan. Among other demands, the main one would be requesting the Centre to declare Polavaram, Pranahita-Chevella, Dummugudem, Kanthanapally, North Andhra Sujala Sravanthi and Yellampally as national projects.
Rajasekhara Reddy would take the opportunity to impress upon both Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh that if the Centre came forward to help the State government to complete all the irrigation projects, the State would ensure food security in the country.
Despite several attractive schemes and freebies promised by the Grand Alliance in the elections, people in the State gave 33 Lok Sabha seats to the Congress based on its credibility. Now it was the turn of the Congress governments to show their gratitude by helping the State achieve good development and implement various welfare schemes, Rajasekhara Reddy would explain.
The Chief Minister would also bring to the notice of Sonia Gandhi the attempts being made by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to take away BHEL-NTPC joint venture project proposed to be set up at Mannavaram near Tirupati.
He would also inform Sonia Gandhi that the Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone for the project in AP next month.
Rajasekhara Reddy would seek financial assistance for schemes like Rajiv Arogyasri, 108 and 104 services and loans at 25 paise interest rate. He would suggest the Centre to implement the schemes at the national level.
With the Centre’s help, the chief minister was confident that all the irrigation projects in the State would be completed in the next four years.
During the visit, the Chief Minister would also meet Rahul Gandhi, Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad, Veerappa Moily, Mukul Wasnik, Pavankumar Bansal, Dayanidhi Maran and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
