The Telangana State Government today issued guidelines for implementation of its prestigious Grama Jyothi program through setting up of seven committees for all-round village development. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to announce the program on the eve of 69th Independence Day celebrations from Golconda Fort on August 15 and likely to launch it from August 17.
Peoples’ representatives, officials and self-help groups will be the members of these committees, which will focus on seven specific issues for rural development. Ministry of Panchayat Raj issued orders to this extent, according to information. The seven committees will focus on seven key issues that will help shine the villages with basic amenities and infrastructure.
A whopping Rs 24,000 crore will be spent over next four years to provide all facilities to the villages by allocating Rs 2 crore to Rs 6 crore for need-based plan of action to be implemented. Funds will be spent by the committees on issues like drinking water, social security, poverty alleviation, basic facilities and infrastructure, health and nutritious food, maintenance of natural resources, human resources development and agriculture.
