Hyderabad: Center for Educational Development of Minorities of Osmania University sponsored by Dept. of Minorities Welfare is providing coaching for Civil Service aspirants of 2017. An entrance test was held to select the candidates for the coaching. In Hyderabad, entrance test was held at Nizam College. Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Director of Center for Education Development of Minorities, OU and Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare inspected the test center.
According to Prof. Shukoor these tests were held at Nizamabad, Kareem Nagar, Mahboob Nagar, Warangal, Sangareddy, Nalgonda and Nirmal. In Hyderabad, out of 225 candidates registered, 193 appeared in the test. In the districts, out of 202 candidates registered, 174 candidates wrote the test. In all, 367 candidates wrote the test. Out of the successful candidates, 58 candidates would be selected for the coaching program.
It may be noted that in view of poor representation of Muslims in Civil Services, Govt. of Telangana decided to offer coaching to the Muslim candidates. A decision has been taken to send the selected candidates to noted coaching centers of Hyderabad. Out of 62 candidates who wrote the test in March 2016, 42 candidates have given their consent to join coaching program. In this manner, 100 candidates belonging to Minorities would be offered coaching for Civil Service Examination to be held in 2017.
