Hyderabad, March 19: According to the remand report of the arrests made during the March 10 Million March, the city police have said that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti president, Mr K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Telangana Joint Action Committee convener, Prof Kodandaram, and the TRS MLAs, Mr K.T. Rama Rao and Mr T. Harish Rao, are all absconding.
Three major cases of conspiracy have been booked against them. The report of the Central Crime Station states that the four men provoked the crowds and conspired to commit the offence on the Tank Bund and assault police officers. Sixty-four persons have been accused of damaging the statues and for the other acts of violence on March 10 near Brhamanaidu statue on Upper Tank Bund.
The Gandhinagar police on March 10 arrested around 54 persons and transferred the case to the CCS. The Narayanaguda police arrested five persons in the case in which KCR, Prof. Kodandaram, Mr Rama Rao and Mr Harish Rao, were shown as absconding.
The case is booked under stringent provisions of Prevention of Public Property Damage Act, Criminal Law Amendment Act, unlawful assembly, rioting and criminal conspiracy.
Police said 12 statues were damaged completely and five statues and their pedestals were partially damaged at the instigation of JAC leaders. The police said in the remand report that their investigation revealed that the accused persons were involved in several criminal cases in the city and other places.
Police arrested one V. Venkateswarlu, 28, of B.K. Thirumalapuram in Mahbubnagar, and R. Raju of Uppal. The police said the arrested were labourers brought to the city by miscreants with the intention of damaging the statues.
