Hyderabad, June 27: The city police has launched another facility for the citizens through which people can reach the police by just an SMS for immediate attention regarding traffic, crime, terror and harassment.
The entire software package was designed for the city police by a team of scientists in AP NIC, Hyderabad and the cell number 9010100100 was donated by the Idea Cellular company, according to a release issued yesterday.
The people could contact the police through this SMS facility when life and property was under threat, affected by a crime or accident. Citizens can also inform the police about suspicious people and objects.
The police urged the people not to give hoax messages which could be tracked and guilty would be prosecuted.
As soon as the computer receives SMS, it will be forwarded to the concerned officer in the field immediately by the operator from the command and control centre through a facility called ‘FAST ACT’.
All messages will be stored in the database and they can be retrieved as and when required. This facility will function on 24×7 basis. However, citizens should note that it is only designed to receive the text messages not voice calls and chatt.
