Hyderabad, November 04: It has been the continuation of the golden run being scripted by the teenage girl brigade from Hyderabad. At least, as far as the twin cities are concerned, women tennis has never had it so dream-like.
Coming close on the heels of the spectacular double achieved by Pranjala recently, here comes the equally fascinating juggernaut of city-mate Sruta Kirti.
Sruta has enjoyed a roller-coaster ride all through the five-day Asia ranking tournament for the Under-14 that concluded at Jorhat Tennis Club in Jorhat here on Friday.
The first signs of creating history came when she bagged the doubles crown. Today, the promising girl took a giant leap forward when she outclassed her more formidable Tamil Nadu opponent in the singles final.
Sruta Kirti was in her elements while accounting for R Abinikka 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the Asian Ranking Under-14 Series, according to information received here.
Her conquest assumes further significance because Sruta is the first girl to win the coveted Asian Under-14 title even though she is still in the Under-12 category.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Lawn Tennis Association (APLTA) has hailed Sruta’s newest achievement. (INN)
