Hyderabad, April 16: A city court has directed the Punjagutta police to register cases against all five members of the Justice Srikrishna Committee, which was tasked by the Centre to write a report on Telangana statehood.
The order was passed by the court of the chief metropolitan magistrate in Nampally.
The committee comprised Justice (retd) B.N. Srikrishna as chairman, the former home secretary, Mr V.K. Duggal (member secretary) and Mr Abusaleh Shariff, Ms Ravinder Kaur and Mr Ranbir Singh. It submitted its report on December 30 last year.
The order came on a complaint filed by an advocate, Mr Mohammad Vali-ur-Rahman, representing the Telangana People’s Forum, that secret Chapter 8 of the report is provocative.
The 14th additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Mr A. Sudhakar, directed that the cases be registered under Section 153 (a) (promoting enmity between two regions), Sections 418, 504, 505 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
