Chittagong Test Day 1: Solid start by India, 63/0 at lunch

Chittagong, January 17: Openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir gave India a solid start in the curtailed first session of the first Test against Bangladesh at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

At lunch India were 63/0 from 13 overs after start of play was delayed by over an hour and a half due to thick fog and poor visibility.

Sehwag (38) was at his usual attacking best while Gambhir (22) was watchful in his short stay at the crease.

Earlier Bangladesh captain Shakib Al hasan won the toss and elected to field first.

Virender Sehwag is leading the India side in the absence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni who was ruled out of the match due to back injury. Also missing from the Indian line up is regular spinner Harbhajan Singh who is out with a stiff neck.

Bangladesh handed Test debut to seamer Shafiul Islam while Shahriar Nafees and Shahadat Hossian comes back to the Test side.

For India Amit Mishra replaced Harbhajan Singh while Ishant Sharma is back in the bowling attack.
