Chinese space probe sends images of unexplored Moon surface

Beijing: China’s latest probe has sent back images from an area of the Moon where humankind has never been before, setting a new record for the country.

The probe, as part of China’s Chang’e-4 mission, landed on the lunar surface on Thursday, and sent images of the distant and mysterious side of the Moon. Contrary to pop culture references, the other side of the Moon is not always dark, The Verge reported.

The images showcase a rocky, cratered, and distinctly lit landscape. China’s landing on the other side of the Moon is a world first given the technical difficulties posed by the distance.
