Child pornography: Heum sent to judicial custody

Chennai, November 18: Dutch national William Heum on Wednesday has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody on a child pornography case in Chennai. He has also reportedly confessed to both the crimes that he has been charged with. This claim has been made by the police even as Heum vehemently denies having confessed to anything.

Heum has been charged with two accounts of child pornography. One of the charges against him is that he uploaded child pornography on the internet. He is also accused of sexually abusing 40 children at an orpahanage run by him.

Heum was arrested on November 7, 2009 following an Interpol notice. This case against Heum for Internet child pornography was the first such case to be registered in India under the IT Act.
