Chidambaram throws ball into AP court again

Hyderabad, August 06: Home Minister P.Chidambaram replying to the debate on Telangana issue that takes place in Lok Sabha yesterday, has made it clear that, neither he nor the Union Government can do any thing about the issue until the people of the state decide whether to stay united or divide into two states.

He said the Union Government can recommend and implement the decisions taken by the people and their representatives of the state. He also made it clear that neither he nor the Union Government has ever tried to create rift between the people. The 9th December decision is the reaction to the state political parties demand for Telangana and made it clear it is not his own decision. He blamed the state political parties for taking a ‘U’ turn after that that announcement. Even now also 4 political parties of the state were not ready to reveal their stand on the Telangana issue. Hence, it is not possible to make any statement in this regard until there is consensus among the political parties of the state.

Chidambaram has suggested the people of the state and their political parties to find an amicable solution to this burning issue at state level and then only come to Center asking for implementation.

His statement naturally irks Telangana leaders and people. In several places in Telangana people have protested against his statements and burnt his effigy. Telangana leaders especially Congress leaders are asking ‘what is the use of sitting with Gulamnabi Azad for discussions over this issue, when Home Minister Chidambaram thinks otherwise.

So, we can consider that the Telangana issue has once again comes to starting point where it was a year ago.
