Guwahati, May 25: Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is likely to arrive here this afternoon to review the security situation in the region at a high-level meeting, official sources said today.
Chidambaram, accompanied by Union Home Secretary G K Pillai, is scheduled to hold a meeting with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi followed by another with the unified command structure members here.
The Home Minister is set to discuss the ongoing counter- insurgency operations in the state, Maoist threat to the state, the latest boundary clash between Assam and Meghalaya at Langpi, modernisation of Assam police and other issues.
Chidambaram is scheduled to arrive here from Mizoram where he had gone to review the repatriation of Bru refugees to the state from Tripura, they added.
