Hyderabad, November 08: The Chaitanyapuri police have registered a case against Telugu Desam party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu under Section 420 IPC on the direction of the Ranga Reddy district court on Tuesday.
One Janardhan Goud, a lawyer, has filed a criminal complaint against Naidu alleging that the former chief minister had cheated the people of Telangana.
The court, which has admitted the petition, directed the police to register an FIR against Naidu.
The lawyer had earlier filed a case against Naidu in the police station alleging that by going back on his word of supporting Telangana, Naidu had cheated the people of Telangana. As the police did not respond, Goud filed a complaint in the court.
Responding to the petition, the District Court on Monday directed the police officials concerned to submit an explanation within a week.
Further hearing of the case was adjourned to next week. (NSS)
