Hyderabad, December 16: The Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, strongly objected to the protests of TRS leaders and suggested that the participants of the public meeting give “a big clap” in protest against the acts of “so-called” Telangana leaders.
Mr Naidu also faced students’ protests during the programme as they raised Jai Telangana slogans.
Proceeding for the Rythu Porubata programme, the situation at the Mamidipally Crossroad at Armoor mandal was similar as here too TRS agitators protested against Mr Naidu’s programme.
TRS leaders Sudam Lakshmi, Vaishalini Reddy and other women activists tried to prevent Mr Naidu’s convoy and people even hurled tomatoes at it. Here too the police took the protesters into custody.
A tense situation prevailed at Kolipyak village of Jakranpally mandal as a section of villagers objected to the TD chief’s tour in their village. Following the objections of villagers, TD leaders shifted the lunch arrangements from Kolipyak to the Sai Baba temple area at Cross Roads.
The TD charged that the government was earning Rs 1,500 crores by selling power cut for two hours from farmers to other states. Reducing two hours of supply to the agriculture sector, the government is earning money and giving a meagre Rs 400 crores as subsidy for free power supply, he said.
He promised free power to farmers if he came to power in 2014.
