CEO talks to political parties about special drive for voter enrollment

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar today informed the political parties that electoral rolls will be revised and people, who do not have their names can make use of the special drive on January 23.

He convened a meeting at the Secretariat and discussed with them on the need for special revision of the electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2019. The leaders of various political parties attended the meeting were Bahujan Samaj Party, BJP, CPI, CPI M, INC, NCP, AIMIM, TRS and TDP. The CEO told the political parties that the schedule of the special summary revision was going on. He also informed that January 20 has been identified as special campaign day across the State, he said.

The CEO also said Booth Level Officers will be present at the polling stations with voter lists to receive claims and objections on the occasion. He said January 23 is special campaign day for all districts, which are covered by the first phase of polling in the Gram Panchayats elections. The CEO appealed to the political parties to actively participate in the SSR 2019 activities by ensuring widespread voter awareness of the measures being taken.
He requested that support be given to make sure that all eligible electors are enrolled with special focus on young adults between 18 and 19 years, urban voters, women, PwDs and transgenders. He also appealed to political parties to ensure that Booth Level Agents are appointed for all polling booths for a more participative electoral process.
