CBI under the scanner in 2010

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The year 2010 was a stained year for the CBI as it came under fire by courts and Opposition parties for its ”inefficiency” and ”politicalisation” and grappled with three huge scams in the country.

The Central Bureau of Investigation faced a hard time solving the financial irregularities in Commonwealth Games and 2G Spectrum allocation and the Adarsh Housing Society scam that involves many political bigwigs.

The CBI, during the year, came under fire from the main Opposition BJP for its ”politically motivated actions” against people from RSS and other Hindu groups.

The CBI questioned former Telecom Minister A Raja in relation with its probe into the Spectrum allocation scam which, according to the CAG report, caused a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer.
