Hyderabad, March 06: Telangana Multi System Operators Federation chairman Kuldeep Sahani has condemned the filing of cases against Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha and three others for burning of the effigy of PCC president D. Srinivas and for raising slogans against him on July 22, 2010 in one town police station limits.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Sahani said it is most unfortunate that the police are acting at the behest of some ‘invisible’ forces. Burning of effigies is part of protests and is common in any democratic set up, he said, adding that the police acted six months after the incident.
Meanwhile, one town Sub-Inspector Rakesh said that the police filed the cases under Section 341 and 188 of IPC against Kavitha, BJP leader Nirmala and party town vice-president Jugal Kishore Pandey for violating Section 30 of the Police Act and obstruction of public life and not for burning the effigies.
He said notices were issued to them and after their reply further action would be initiated as per the court direction.
