With a case pending, BJP changes Sonepat candidate

Sonepat, September 25: The Haryana unit of the BJP today dropped its nominee Rajiv Jain from the Sonepat assembly constituency for the October 13 Haryana Assembly elections.

According to party sources, the step was taken, since a case against Jain relating to disproportionate income was pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

As a result, Jain was not in a position to contest the Assembly elections till the final verdict of the court comes, the sources said.

Jain has been replaced with his wife Kavita Jain, who will be now party’s candidate from Sonepat assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, Jain who is also the spokesman of the state unit of the BJP, told reporters here today that the previous INLD government had filed a case against him “to take a political revenge”.
