Nagpur, January 25: Maharashtra Police today filed a case against Ilina Sen, wife of civil rights activist Binayak Sen, for “misusing” an event organized by an organization headed by her and seeking support for some alleged Naxal sympathizers, including her husband.
The case was filed at Wardha near here, police sources said.
Ilina, a teacher at Wardha-based Mahatma Gandhi National Hindi University, is also the Convenor of Indian Association of Women Studies (IAWS), which had organized a three-day annual convention a few days ago.
Ilina was the moving force behind the convention and used the event to garner public sympathy for Sen, sentenced by a Chhattisgarh Court to life imprisonment for colluding with Maoists, and others like Mumbai-based Sudhir Dhawale, who was recently arrested for alleged Naxal links they said.
The delegates, including foreigners, who had come to participate in the convention, organized protests against the arrest of Sen and Dhawale, the sources said.
