The Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, met here on Wednesday to discuss arrangements for the grand celebrations of Telangana Formation Day on June 2.
Speaking to media persons later, Nayani said a series of programmes would be held on June 2 to mark the occasion. He said rich tributes would be paid to the martyrs of Telangana including those who laid down their lives during 1969 agitation. He said officials celebrations would be held from mandal to State level.
On June 2, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao would pay tributes to Telangana martyrs at Gun Park. Later, he will unveil biggest national flag at Sanjeevaiah Park and lay foundation stone for Martyrs’ Memorial near Lumbini Park. The Chief Minister will then take salute of Formation Day Parade at Secunderabad Parade Grounds. The State Government is also planning to conduct a workshop at HICC in the afternoon which would be attended by the public representatives, officials and other eminent personalities. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan is likely to deliver a special address at the workshop.
Nayani informed that the entire State, especially Hyderabad, would be decorated and illuminated for the special occasion. He said special prayers would also be organised at all places of religious worship where people would pray for the development of Telangana State.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee would meet again on May 26 to finalise the arrangements. (INN)
