Hyderabad, November 21: By election to the Pulivendula assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh, necessitated by the death of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, will be held on December 19.
The Election Commission of India issued the schedule in this regard today, while the notification for the bypoll will be issued on November 25.
The last date for filing nominations is December 2 and their scrutiny would take place on December 3, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) I V Subba Rao told reporters here today.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 5 and the polling would be held on December 19, he said.
Counting of votes will be taken up on December 23.
With the issue of notification today, the model code of conduct came into force immediately in Kadapa district of which Pulivendula is a part, Rao said.
