Bring back ‘MGR Rule’ in TN: Jaya tells party cadres

Chennai, January 17: Opposition AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today called upon party cadres to take a pledge to bring back ”MGR Rule” in the state and save the people.

In an epistle to partymen on the eve of her mentor and party founder late M G Ramachandran’s 93rd birth anniversary, Ms Jayalalithaa exhorted partymen to work for bringing back MGR rule and for the development of the party.

She also called upon them to take a pledge to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu and ”retrieve” the state from the path of destruction.

”On this occasion, let us take a pledge to turn the state from the path of destruction to the path of development”, she said.

Paying glowing tributes to the late leader, Ms Jayalalithaa said MGR was an embodiment of humaneness and his death had left a void in the political history of the state.

Millions of people of the state and partymen miss the leader badly, she said and urged partymen to celebrate his birth anniversary in a fitting manner by paying floral tributes to his portraits and distributing sweets to the people.
