Nashik, February 21: A local court has granted bail to a former Samajwadi Party MLA from Maharashtra in a case filed against him for publicly announcing Rs one crore ‘supari’ (contract) to kill MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
The Madhya Pradesh Police yesterday produced former Langi MLA Kishore Samrite before the court of Justice Abhijit Nandgaonkar who granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 25,000, Samrite’s lawyer Baburao Shende told reporters here.
A local MNS activist Rajesh Pandit had filed a complaint against Samrite at the Nashik Road police station after he in November 2008 announced a ‘supari’ of Rs one crore and legal assistance to anyone who killed Thackeray.
Pandit had also filed a criminal complaint in a Nashik court following which it issued summons against Samrite.
As the former MLA did not appear before the court, an arrest warrant was issued against him.
