Botsa says Govt will not burden poor on power tariff

PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana has made it clear that the State government will bear the power charges of the poor and middle class people, in case the tariff is increased.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday at Gandhi Bhavan, Botcha said the government will look after that it will not burden the poor and middle class people. He said that the Congress party had not included in the 2009 election manifesto that it will not increase the power tariffs, but it was included only in the 2004 election manifesto. He said that the Congress government’s main aim was farmers’ welfare and he believes that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government will not burden the poor people and farmers even though it increased the power charges.

He said that as the Chief of State Congress party he was suggesting to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government not to increase the power tariffs. He said that the Congress manifesto, as also the former chief minister late Dr YSR never told that the Congress party would not increase the power tariffs. He alleged that the TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu was speaking lies as he wished on power issue.

He has alleged that the opposition parties were staging protest programs for the sake of political gains. He said that there was 62 Million Units gap between the power demand and production. He asked the people to understand the situation and cooperate with the government in this regard.

Earlier, the TDP leaders from Aaluru constituency in Kurnool district joined Congress party in the presence of Botcha Sathyanarayana under the leadership of MLA Neeraja Reddy.
