New Delhi, October 07: Taking serious objections to the BJP describing its General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as an evidence of a ‘sick and imbecile mindset’, the Congress today said in politics, comments against opponents should be done in a civilised manner.
Reacting to Mr Gandhi’s drawing similarities between Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and the RSS citing both as ‘fanatical’ and ‘fundamentalist’, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said such immature statement only revealed a ‘sick and imbecile mindset’.
Referring to Mr Gandhi’s statement in Madhya Pradesh yesterday, Mr Javadekar said it was an immature, imbecile and arrogant statement.
”What Rahul said is a political comment. We believe that any comment by an individual or a political party should be replied in a civilised manner,” Congress spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters in reply to a question on BJP’s reaction to Mr Gandhi’s comment.
Reacting to BJP’s statement, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said it was the BJP which suffered from a ‘sick’ mindset.
Reports from Bhopal quoted Mr Gandhi as saying that the banned SIMI and RSS were in the same bracket pursuing fundamentalist ideologies and his party would maintain distance from these organisations.
