BJP-Left volte face on Telangana : Govt Whip charge

Hyderabad, August 08: Andhra Pradesh Government whip S Shailajanath has said he wondered how the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can dream of ”Akhand Bharat” (United India) and yet favour smaller states.

Talking to mediapersons at the CLP here, Mr Shailajanath said the BJP and the Left parties were in favour of bifurcation despite the fact that they had fought for integration of the state at the time of its formation in 1956.

He claimed that smaller states would increase the risk of failure of law and order.

Mr Shailajanath also questioned how the BJP could achieve the dream of ”Akhand Bharat if the division of smaller states continues.

The BJP and Left leaders must submit their views on the Telangana statehood issue to the Srikrishna Commission.

Responding to question on the letter written by former minister Konda Surekha to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi over the failure of the Rosaiah government, he said she has the right to write to UPA Chairperson over party issues, but releasing it to the media was not a good trend, he added.
